Improper flow-up of patients and failure to correct reflux when indicated may cause significant renal parenchymal scarring and therefore renal failure. If it is improperly followed and surgical correction not made at the appropriate time, the result can be end stage renal diseases. We report 147 cases who underwent ureteric reimplantation due to vesicoureteric reflux. Between January 1997 - May 2001, 104 girls and 43 boys (with 245 renal units) underwent ureteric reimplantation. Median follow-up was 18 months. The overall success rate was 97%; however, 7 cases with their (8 renal units) had persistent reflux after operation (the reflux was low grade). There were no surgical complications. The patients who had persistent reflux were followed conservatively with no clinical problem. With appropriate patient selection, an experienced surgical team and meticulous surgical technique, ureteric reimplantation is a gold standard for treatment of vesicoureteric reflux.
