Metoclopramide, a drug with antidopaminergic effects, is used as a prokinetic agent to increase upper gastrointestinal tract motility and as an antiemetic agent. It is widely used in the pediatric population, in which adverse effects are most commonly seen, even at recommended doses. The primary side effect is acute extrapyramidal reactions requiring acute intervention. We present a 13-year-old boy admitted to our pediatric emergency department with acute dystonia precipitated by therapeutic dose of metoclopramide. Metoclopramideinduced dystonia is frightening both for the patient and the family. Therefore, it is important that the physician prescribing metoclopramide be aware of these potential side effects and their treatment. Anahtar Kelimeler : metoklopramid, distoni, çocuk.
