Fifty-three patients were female and 50 male, and the mean age (minimum – maximum) of patients was 9.0 ± 4.4 ( 0.75 – 17) years. The main peak appeared between 11 and 17 years. Thirty-two patients (31.1 %) presented with hyperglycaemia, 27 patients (26.6 %) with ketonemia, 28 patients (27.2 %) with diabetic ketoacidosis, and 16 patients (15.5 %) with diabetic ketoacidosis coma. Twenty-one patients (20.4 %) were associated with infectious diseases. Family history revealed that T1DM and T2DM were diagnosed in patients’ first-degree relatives in seven families (6.8 %) and 23 families (22.3 %), respectively. The frequency of diagnosis showed seasonal variations the lowest in summer and the highest in early spring.
