Antioxidants are defense elements that protect the cell from damage by removing or neutralizing harmful molecules called free radicals. Balanced functioning of the antioxidant system is important for maintaining the vital functions of cells, and its degradation leads to the emergence of many diseases (such as cancer, diabetes, hypertension, respiratory diseases).

Cells can produce their own antioxidants, and more over antioxidant activity is supported by the compounds such as flavonoids, polyphenols, flavones, anthocyanins, lycopenes, resveratrol, catesin, carotenoids takes place in the content of many nutrients consumed in daily life. In recent years, the rising popularity of healthy eating has brought attention to exogenous antioxidant intake. In this article, we aimed to define the antioxidant properties of foods we daily consume such as propolis, chocolate, pomegranate, grapes, turmeric and mulberry fruits.
