Abstract
Pott’s puffy tumor is a rare complication characterized by development of osteomyelitis and subperiosteal abscess in connection with frontal sinusitis. The main symptoms and signs of Pott’s puffy tumor are headache, fever, vomiting, rhinorrhea, periorbital edema and lethargy, frequently seen in adolescents. Imaging techniques such as CT or MRI are important for the early detection of this condition, and timely, appropriate antibiotic therapy with concomitant surgical intervention offers more promising results. In reporting the present case, we aimed to emphasize the necessity of including Pott’s puffy tumor in the differential diagnosis, and the possibility of preventing life-threatening complications by means of appropriate antibiotic therapy and endoscopic sinus surgery in patients with swelling in the frontal region after sinusitis.
