Abstract

Excessive, uncontrolled, and unconscious use of internet and media are causes physical, emotional, psychological and social problems in children. At an early age (before the age of three), especially watching TV alone, disrupts cognitive and language development, memory mathematics and reading abilities, and increases their school failures. Violent and unethical behaviors encountered in the media may lead to the evaluation of children as encouraging and normalized. Children can become insensitive to violence, and accept them as an acceptable way to solve problems. In addition long-term television watching or looking at the screen can cause musculoskeletal, sleep and visual problems, obesity risk, photosensitive epilepsy, and electromagnetic effects. Families have a big role in the prevention of internet andf media related psychosocial and physical problems.
