Abstract
The use of primary sources is generally accepted to be the most valuable methodology in conducting historical research. The original Ayıntab Sheria Court Registers are thus an important historical document. A few examples of register entries, dating from the years 1539, 1540, 1765 and 1791 and relating to physician responsibility and medical practice, are introduced in this article, with the aim of providing a glimpse of previously little-known information about the daily practice of medicine in Ayıntab in the 16th and 18th centuries.
Keywords: Tıp tarihi, Osmanlı tıbbı, hekim sorumluluğu, Antep Şeri Mahkeme Sicilleri.
