Abstract
Infant and child mortality rates are among the most significant indicators of the development and prosperity of a society. During the 1990s, the infant mortality rate in our country was 53 per thousand, while today this rate is 9.2 per thousand. A variety of special programs are being carried out to reduce infant and children mortality rates and foster healthier babies and children. In this article, these programs are described together with the progress that has been achieved in reducing infant and child mortality as a result of the programs.
