Abstract
The aim of this report was to present and evaluate case reports related with pediatrics found in Rhazes’ Kitab al-Tacarib (Book of Experiences), written in case-based form and Arabic and translated into Turkish by Ali Munşi from Bursa in the 18th century. The book consisted of 31 sections, and diseases were ordered from head to foot, with cases presented successively in these sections. Despite there being no special section allocated for pediatric diseases in the book, pediatric cases were determined in various other parts from the Turkish translation, Hamidiye 1013 copy, and were arranged under the titles of the sections. Pediatric cases translated into 18th century Turkish are presented in contemporary Turkish. Medical applications and treatment modalities of Rhazes were based on the medical understanding of his era and the principles of the humoral paradigm. Furthermore, different diseases with similar symptoms were classified under the same title because symptoms were used for the diagnosis of diseases, as seen in classical books of that era.
