Abstract

The aims of this article were to introduce a booklet entitled Harîta-i Vücûd-i Beşer (The Map of the Human Body), which was probably published in İstanbul around 1911-12, and to present its color anatomical pictures, transcriptions of its anatomical terms and a vocabulary containing Latin explanations of these anatomical terms. The booklet contained 12 color pages, with 16 color pictures in total. The pictures in the booklet were quoted from a Western country and the anatomical explanations were adapted to Ottoman Turkish. It would be difficult to describe this booklet as an atlas of anatomy; however, we may refer to it as an information booklet on the human body, which may be of particular interest to medical school students.

Keywords: Anatomi, insan anatomisi atlası, tıp tarihi.
