The total dose was 1500 mg elemental iron. He was admitted following 15 days of pallor, headache, vveakness, and nausea. Laboratory investigations revealed hemolytic anemia, elevation in hepatic enzymes, and highly elevated serum iron and ferritin levels. The patient was diagnosed as iron intoxication, and treatment with intravenous deferoxamine was started.
