Abstract
As science and medical technology have advanced, the lower limit of gestational age and birth weight considered compatible with prolonged life has decreased. Reports about an increase in survival in infants who are born weighing less than 500 g come from all over the world. Most of these infants are small for gestational age and experience a high rate of serious morbidities. This presentation reports the survival of an infant who was born weighing 382 g, at the 26th week of gestation.
Keywords: extremely low birth weight, preterm, survival
