Abstract
The rarely seen Tayanc-Prasad syndrome is associated with growth retardation, hypogonadism, hepatosplenomegaly, zinc and iron deficiency, geophagia, alterations in small intestine mucosa, and some congenital abnormalities. A 12-year-old girl was presented with complaints of rapidly tiring, amenorrhea, and geophagia. Her physical examination revealed height and weight under 3p, and hepatosplenomegaly. Laboratory values included hemoglobin of 4.8 g/dl, hematocrit of 17.4, mean corpuscular volume (MCV) of 49 fl, red cell distribution width (RDW) of 22, and serum ferritin <1.5 ng/dl, and low zinc level in hair. She was diagnosed as Tayanc-Prasad syndrome. This case is presented in view of the rarity of the syndrome.
