Çocuk Sağlığı ve Hastalıkları 2009; 52: 85-87. Neuroleptic drugs are very rare causes of neurotoxicity in newborn infants. We report a newborn infant who was prescribed and received an overdose of acepromazine, a potent neuroleptic drug, and developed a full clinical picture of the toxicity with serious central and autonomic nervous system and cardiovascular system dysfunction findings. Special emphasis is given on appropriate drug prescription and dosing in newborn infants. Key words: newborn, phenothiazine, toxicity.
