Abstract

Chronic diarrhea and persistent vomiting may have various causes in infants. Duodenal webs, although very rare in infants, should always be considered in cases of gastric outlet obstruction in infancy and early childhood. We report an infant with duodenal web who had been investigated because of persistent diarrhea and vomiting and was misdiagnosed as epilepsy. Prompt attention to the onset of such clinical features in infants may prevent diagnostic delays and morbidity. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy may be helpful for precise diagnosis of duodenal webs.
