Diaper dermatitis is an irritant contact dermatitis occurring beneath the diaper of an infant related with factors like dampness, friction, urea and feces. With technological improvement, frequency of diaper dermatitis has decreased but the disease has not been eradicated. The most important two aims in the treatment of diaper dermatitis are to speed up the healing of the damaged skin and to prevent the recurrences. After the medical therapy is initiated, parents should be informed about the do's and don't's. In our country, diaper dermatitis is usually not considered a disease and parents apply various substances without attending to doctors. In mild cases barrier creams and elimination of the offending factors may be enough. In suspected cases bacterial and fungal research should be made. In the erosive variant, in addition to corticosteroid's and/or antifungal containing creams, wound care procedures are necessary.
