Abstract
Mumps may be seen with meningoencephalitis, pancreatitis and epididymoorchitis. During the course of mumps, presternal swelling or edema is a rare finding. Edema of the cervical and thoracal region is generally a life-threatening condition, but presternal edema accompanying mumps infection is a benign condition; it disappears spontaneously and without any treatment. Sometimes a patient may be misdiagnosed as presternal cellulitis. The importance of a correct diagnosis is to prevent unnecessary treatment.
