Abstract

The increase in air pollution in door to air pollution levels detrimental to our health is one of the important problems of this century. As most of the lung maturation is completed during the postnatal period and in early childhood, and because of the physiological nature of infancy and childhood, air pollution affects children more than adults. As children spend most of their times indoors, their primary exposure to air pollution comes from breathing the air inside homes and schools rather than outdoors. There is an important relation between air pollution and asthma exacerbations, preterm births, low birth weights, lung development defects, infant deaths, cancer, and many immunological, neurological, reproductive and pulmonary diseases.
