Abstract

Peer review is fundamental to research-based science and scholarly publication. Despite rapid grow of the scientific literature, there are no consensus guidelines for editors to define optimal criteria for choosing reviewers. The purposes of this article are to share my experience as an editor or as a peer reviewer and to provide readers with 37 years of explanation of the peer review process with its pitfalls.
