Abstract
The aim of this study is to present and to discuss the knowledge related to regimen of children in the light of history of medicine. For this purpose, a copy of Kitāb al-Dhakhīra fī ʿIlm al-Ṭibb edited by Dr. G. Sobhy and printed by Government Press in Cairo in 1928 was mainly studied, and compared to the manuscript in Şehit Ali Paşa Collection, nr. 2028 in İstanbul Süleymaniye Manuscript Library. The book consists of 31 chapters and the first one is on protection of health. The subheading `regimen of child` in this chapter was translated from Arabic into Turkish and presented in the results section in the article. The knowledge in this section was compared to knowledge in Galen`s De Sanitate Tuenda, Oribasius` Synopsis and Paul of Aegina`s Epitome. It was seen that the knowledge related to section on regimen of children in Kitāb al-Dhakhīra fī ʿIlm al-Ṭibb is rather short and the section does not include any diseases of children in accordance with the name of section. It was realized that Galen`s De Sanitate Tuenda was the main source of this section.
