Abstract
The reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome, (RPLS), a complex of cerebral disorders including headache, seizures, visual disturbances, and other neurologic manifestations, is associated with a variety of conditions in which blood pressure rises acutely. Usually it is diagnosed during hypertensive encephalopathy, eclampsia and immunosuppressive treatments. The radiological features are reversible bilateral white matter abnormalities predominantly located in the posterior regions of the cerebral hemispheres. With symptomatic therapy, clinical and radiologic recovery can be achieved. The recognition of this syndrome is critical as delay in the diagnosis or treatment could result in permanent neurological deficit. Early prompt control of blood pressure or withdrawal of causative drugs can reverse the syndrome. We report here two cases of RPLS who were on chemotherapy, one with Wilms’s tumor and the other with T-cell lymphoma.
