Abstract
The purpose of this study was determine the normal limits of liver, spleen and kidney sizes in children and to reach values which are easy to calculate and are comparable in daily practice. Five hundred and six healthy children aged between 0-14 were examined. Measurements were compared with sex, age, weight, height and body surface area. Correlations between these organs were also evaluated. Organ dimensions increased with respect to age, height and weight increase. Among the parameters compared, height had the best (0.8152) and weight the worst (0.7490) correlation with organ dimensions. Because there is no risk of radiation with ultrasonography, and it is easy to perform, it should be the modality of choice for evaluation of organ size.
