Abstract

Infantile hepatic hemangioendothelioma (İHH) is a type of capillary hemangioma, which is the most common symptomatic vascular tumor, with 85% of cases presenting in the first six months of life. Clinically, the condition manifests by a classic triad consisting of hepatomegaly, high-output heart failure and giant hemangioma. Similar to other giant hemangiomas, IHH can lead to Kasabach-Merritt syndrome, which is characterized by consumption coagulopathy and thrombocytopenia. In this article a newborn with giant hepatic vascular tumor, local consumption coagulopathy and congestive heart failure is presented.
