Abstract
Jaundice is a common condition in the neonatal period. Hemolytic Disease of the Newborn (HDN) which develops as a result of the direct effect of maternal erythrocytes, produces differents clinical pictures. Although HDN occurs due to both Rh and ABO incompatibility. Rarely, it may develop due to minor (subgroup) blood group incompatibility. The severity of hyperbilirubinemia seen in minor blood group incompatibility varies. In subgroup blood incompatibility, hyperbilirubinemia may be mild or may be at a level that requires exchange transfusion. In this article, we present a case in which anti-E blood group incompatibility was diagnosed due to recurrent attacks of indirect hyperbilirubinemia and was successfully treated with intensive phototherapy and intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatment. Because of this case, minor blood group incompatibility due to anti- E is being reviewed.
