Abstract

Fetal pleural effusion is a rare abnormality that results from accumulation of fluid in the chest cavity. It is an uncommon anomaly which can be associated with structural malformations, inflammatory or iatrogenic problems, genetic syndromes or fetal hydrops. Early development of pleural effusion is usually associated with fetal hydrops and carries a poor prognosis. In this article, a newborn with Down syndrome and isolated pleural effusion is presented.
